Morning Star Beach: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
Morning Star Beach exemplifies the natural beauty of the beaches in the United States Virgin Islands. The water was a beautiful aquamarine color that was crystal clear. When I was in the water, I could see my legs, toes and a tiny school of fish swimming in unison.
At the end of the beach that was closer to the rocks, there was a small baby crab that walked along the shore. Another crab stood still as it sunbathed on one of the boulders. Then there was the third crab that was hanging on with one claw as the waves crashed on the rock. It was as though he would have jumped if someone dared him. Otherwise, it appeared that the crab was enjoying the constant splash of water from the ocean waves.
The layout of Morning Star Beach was aesthetically pleasing. There was a vast stretch of sand that seemed to be endless. The sand was an unusual distance from the ocean. However, that was not such a bad thing because there was a lot of space for beachgoers who likes to sunbathe. Coconut trees lined the shoreline. However, the trees were too far back from the water to provide natural shade. As an alternative, there were a lot blue beach chairs with matching umbrellas that were available for a small fee.
When I arrived on the beach, people were playing a volleyball game. Some folks aboard a catamaran had thrown the anchor into the water and began swimming onto the shore. Other beachgoers were sunbathing. I decided to go for a swim. The ocean was refreshing underneath the blazing hot sun. Unlike Brewers Bay, the water was not calm. It did not gently glide on the sand. Instead, the waves were high, crashed on the beach and pushed the sand up creating a small hill between the ocean and the shoreline. Despite the temperament of the water, some people still went snorkeling around the rocks.
Some of the sea creatures that they saw were starfish, sea urchins, and schools of fish, according to the snorkelers. I was happy that they were able to see the sea life. However, I didn’t have an interest in snorkeling too. Therefore, I spent my afternoon swimming, reading my book and enjoying a small picnic with my friends. At the beach picnic, I ate a big bowl of popcorn, a delicious turkey sandwich and I drank lots of water. It was the perfect lunch for an afternoon on the beach.
Overall, I had a great time at Morning Star Beach. I would recommend this beach to anyone who is interested in spending their day on a beach that has high waves.
