Food Tour: Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Restaurant hopping during a Food Tour in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands was a lot of fun. This Food Tour that covered breakfast, lunch, and dinner in some of the most popular restaurants in Virgin Gorda. I hope that you are hungry and that you have a big appetite because there is plenty to eat!
My first stop was The Club House Steak and Seafood Grille Restaurant located at Bitter End in Virgin Gorda. Since Bitter End is an island disconnected to the rest of Virgin Gorda, I arrived by boat on Princess Charter. Hmm! The food was a yummy delight as I ate my breakfast at The Club House Steak and Seafood Grille Restaurant. It consisted of a vegetable omelet, three strips of bacon, toast that was cut in half, a slice of orange and gourmet caffeinated coffee. In addition to the plated selections, there was an elaborate buffet that included items for patrons to enjoy a continental breakfast. The staff was friendly as I toured the open air restaurant that had the backdrop of a beautiful beach.
For lunch, I went to Fat Virgin Restaurant at Biras Creek Resort. The food was delicious! I ordered a lightly peppered curry chicken roti. Filled with chicken, potatoes, and seasonings of different sorts the combination of flavors were delectable. It was neatly wrapped in pita bread and accompanied with a tropical salad with a sweet mango chutney dipping sauce. One word to describe my lunch, YUMMY! Would I recommend this dish? Absolutely! Additionally, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
As the evening began to set in, I went to the Mine Shaft Restaurant for dinner. The BBQ ribs were delightful. It was bursting with a plethora of herbs and seasonings topped with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The ribs were cooked to perfection. They were soft, succulent and meaty. The zig-zag design on the top opening of the potato was cute. After biting into the ribs, I understood clearly why this dish is so popular.
Thus far, the Food Tour was great! Not only was the food was mouthwatering, but the service at each restaurant was impeccable. Since the Mine Shaft was my last stop for day one; let’s see what day two of the Food Tour will bring!
The sun shone brilliantly above as I was on my way to the Fischer’s Cove Restaurant. I ordered, “Where is the Sun,” that, in my opinion, is an omelet lover’s sanctuary. Ham, onions, and extra sharp cheddar cheese are the ingredients for this delicious meal. The salsa sauce that was on top of the omelet added a spicy flavor. “Where is the sun,” was served with breakfast potatoes.
Lunchtime came quickly today. I was on my way to North Sound, and this is where Hog Heaven another restaurant on the Food Tour was located. My goodness, the ribs were tender and succulent. The slow roasted meat captured every flavor and spice while maintaining its moisture. The BBQ sauce that adorned the pork ribs were fantastic. It was sweet, spicy and contained the key secret ingredient. The conch fritters were equally delectable. It was crispy on the outside but soft and seasoned on the inside. The dipping sauce gave the conch an additional flavor. Both dishes were very palatable.
The evening was slowly coming in. The sunset had a bright orange and red color. It was terrific to watch. I was on my way to my last stop, for dinner and dessert at Coco Maya Restaurant! I tantalized my taste buds with the Asian and Latin cuisine. I ordered the Spicy Calamari Salad, and I was thoroughly pleased. It was very delicious. Afterwards, I ordered the dulce de leche cheesecake for dessert. It had the perfect chilled creamy texture that melted in my mouth with every bite. Yummy! It was made onsite, so this type of cheesecake can only be tasted at Coco Maya.
Overall, the Food Tour was a delicious, mouthwatering treat! It is hard for me to say which restaurant served the best meal because all the dishes were superb!.
