The Public Garden: Boston, Massachusetts
There is nothing more enriching to life than being surrounded by the beauty of mother nature. Everything is green, colorful and there is a variation of plant and animal life. Nature can offer a peace of mind, relaxation or it can be a place to indulge in a plethora of outdoor activities. At the Boston Public Garden, I will both explore this beautiful garden as well as go for a ride on pond aboard the Swan Boat.
Located on the northern side of a series of connected parks also known as a Necklace is the Boston Public Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Strategically planted flowers added a colorful flair to the predominantly green park.
As I walked around the garden, I saw beds of roses, purple and white flowers as well as orange and white flowers planted decoratively together. The flowers accentuated with tall plants that had blooming bulbs that hung from it. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the names of all of the flowers. However, it was a joy to observe this natural beauty in the midst of the gentle breeze.
There were several weeping willow trees whose glorious branches hung to the earth. The trees are stationed around the shoreline of a lagoon. Dawn Redwoods, European Elms & Beeches, Horse Chestnuts, American Elms, Ginkgo and California Redwood trees are additional trees in the garden.
Afterwards, I went on the Swan Boat and I as well as other passengers was taken around the entire pond. The boat is designed to replicate an actual swan. An employee slowly began pedaling the boat away from the dock, and our short journey began. The pond was peaceful, there were birds chirping in the background and schools of ducks swam by the boat. Then the swan boat went under a bridge, around a small sanctuary for the swans and then I was back at the dock. The boat ride was smooth and seamless. It didn’t feel like I was on a small boat.
Overall, spending the day enjoying the beauty of mother nature at the Public Garden was well worth my trip!
