Caribbean Fast Cat Tour: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
Life is one big adventure in the U.S. Virgin Islands! Going island hopping on the Caribbean Fast Cat Tour was undoubtedly an excellent way to spend my day. I arrived at 9:30 am and boarded the Virgin Breeze catamaran that was docked at Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
It was an open-air vessel that welcomed the cool breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. In the front part of the interior of the boat, there were snorkel masks that were on the seats. In the middle, there were cups filled with water that was available for patrons to pick up at the bar. In the rear, there were buckets of snorkel fins and inflatable life jackets available for distribution upon arrival of our first destination to Buck Island.
After all the passengers were on board, the trip officially began. We were on our way to Buck Island! The crew members Captain Jason, Camden and Rip were friendly, informative and very entertaining. Naturally, they explained the safety procedures which included instructions on inflating the life vest, the proper way to wear a snorkel mask and when to put on the fins.
Afterwards, the crew shared the history of the Virgin Islands and told hilarious jokes that often made everyone erupt into a great big laugh. Thus far, the Caribbean Fast Cat Tour was loads of fun, and before I knew it the Virgin Breeze was anchored in Buck Island, and I was snorkeling in the ocean!
The underwater world was beautiful, and there were lots of sea creatures to see. On the ocean floor was a Green Sea Turtle that was feasting on the seagrass. Occasionally, it came up for air and then glided back down to eat some more. The turtle didn’t seem to mind being the center of attention for all the wide-eyed snorkelers who were snapping away with their underwater cameras. The Green Sea Turtle quietly went on with its day as if the snorkelers were not there.
Closer to the rocks, there was a wide array of fish. There were yellowtail, snappers, parrot fish, sergeant major fish, sea urchins, a small school of trumpet fish, the queen angelfish, blue chromis, tiny colorful tropical fish and much more. The rocks and seabed had a plethora of fire corals.
Some of the fire corals had a bright red color. However, the majority of them were a mustard yellow color. Although fire corals have a high survival rate, the Tour Guide Rip, told the group not to touch them. After a while, it was time for the snorkelers to head back to Virgin Breeze and the next stop on the Caribbean Fast Cat Tour was Honeymoon Beach at Water Island!
Gorgeous is the word I would use to describe this beach. The sand was white, the water was crystal clear, and the palm trees that lined the shore added to the overall beauty of Honeymoon Beach. The crew served unlimited painkillers and non-alcoholic refreshments. Some people spent their time sunbathing while others went for a swim. I chose to do the latter, and the water was lovely, clear and cold which was a sharp contrast to the blazing hot sun. As I looked around, it was apparent that everyone who was on tour, including me, was having a blast!
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end; and that end came when Captain Jason blew the whistle for everyone to return to Virgin Breeze. As we departed from Water Island and was on our way back to St. Thomas, the crew kept patrons roaring with laughter with their presentations of models who marketed the t-shirts and tank tops for sale. Trust me; this is something that you won’t want to miss!
Overall, I had a wonderful time aboard the Caribbean Fast Cat Tour.
Before I conclude, remember to bring your sunblock and apply it 30 minutes before the trip. By the time you are ready to snorkel the sunscreen will be activated to protect your skin. Also, walk with cash so that you can tip the crew at the end of the trip. Lastly, come prepared to have fun!

Hi Africah. Once again great post. Your use of imagery is absolutely amazing. I could actually picture the sea turtle grazing on the sea bed. I’m sorry your adventure had to come to an end, but it doesn’t mean mine has to as well. Now I know where to go to get my adventures. All I have to do is follow in your footsteps. Thanks for leading the way!
