Shopping at the Astoria Sunday Market: Astoria, Oregon
Sale! Sale! Sale! Check out the new economic stimulus package! Shop till you drop in the rustic, small, and quiet town of Astoria, Oregon.
I took a cool Sunday stroll through the Astoria Farmers Market, in which vendors sold food and products that can not be found in the most popular city stores. For example, homemade huckleberry scones, fresh fruits and vegetables (hand picked from the farm), knitted tee shirts, local paintings, and lots of arts and crafts.
What I liked the most, was the vendors created unique products that they sold. Perhaps one day, I too will learn how to make my own soaps, kitchen accessories, and car fresheners. Really, it is a great way to save money and economize! All I have to do is find the inner artist in me and get to work…hmmm…well…I’ll see. My most favorite aspect of the trip was the people. The locals smiled and greeted me as if they had known me for years. They were very friendly.
Other highlights of the trip was the food! Oh my gosh, it was sooo delicious. Soft razor clams, tasty beer battered sausage on a stick, and zesty clam chowder. Trust me it was good! I don’t drink beer but If you are a beer lover, then Astoria is the place for you! The beer menu has a very creative selection such as Red Beard Amber, Dabomb Blonde, Bitter B—- Imperial, Volkswagan and Kick Ass Stout. Interesting variety…don’t you think?
Astoria, Oregon was built alongside the Columbia River. My friends and I took pictures with the river in the background. Afterwards, we watched in excitement as a baby seal swam by. It was truly a beautiful moment. If you haven’t visited Astoria, Oregon, then call your travel agent and book your trip right away! I had a lot of fun and so will you.
