Exploring the Jacksonville Landing: Jacksonville, Florida
Join me for a fun time at one of the most popular attractions in Jacksonville, Florida. Can you guess where I am? Yes, you got it! I am at the Jacksonville Landing. This two level indoor and outdoor attraction has something for everyone. For the shopper, there are a variety of stores that sells clothes, shoes, paintings, artwork and souvenirs. For those of you who have a sweet tooth, you can purchase freshly made over-sized chocolate chip cookies from the mini bakery or a deliciously adorned vanilla sundae from the ice cream shop. Yummy! All of those stores are located on the first floor. However, the entire second floor is dedicated solely to the Founders Food Court. Although, the stores and restaurants are nice what enticed me to visit the Jacksonville Landing was the series of live concerts that was taking place throughout the day in the courtyard.
Once I walked through the huge double doors it was like stepping into a whole new world. In the center of the courtyard was a pretty water fountain with tables and chairs that surrounded it. The band was performing on the stage which was set up in front of the fountain. The crowd was dancing to music and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Each band was unique and each of them performed different genres of music. It was a great combination of rock, contemporary, jazz and much more. The concerts were great! I danced to the tunes of all the bands before taking a break to go for a stroll on the boardwalk.
I left the courtyard only to be greeted with the delicious aroma of food that filled the air from the restaurants. The restaurants were parallel to the boardwalk and the St. Johns River. Each of them offered the option of outdoor seating with the view of the river. I stopped in the pizzeria and had a delicious slice of vegetable pizza. It was very good! Afterwards, I continued walking on the boardwalk only to find a variety of sculptures and statues. I had fun taking pictures with my favorite statues.
While on my way back to the concert, it started raining. Despite the weather, I saw dolphins swimming in the water and tried to take a picture of them but they disappeared underneath the waves. When I arrived back to the concert, the crowd had disbursed. Most of them went inside seeking shelter from the rain. While the concert goers used that time to indulge in a meal at the Founders Food Court, I took that opportunity to take a photo of the now empty courtyard.
Overall, I can sum up my time spent at the Jacksonville Landing with only two words…fun and awesome!
