The Fischer’s Cove Restaurant: Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Walking along the path that led to Fischer’s Cove Restaurant in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands reminded me of the Public Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. There were a variety of trees, plants, and flowers that decorated the pathway that led to the restaurant. It could almost resemble a mini botanical garden.
As I drew closer to the entrance, there were colorful ornaments in the shapes of iguanas, crabs, and birds that lined the concrete wall. They were fun and artsy with an island flair. When I entered the open-air restaurant, there were instant views of the Fischer’s Cove Beach.
It was gorgeous. The white sand and calm aquamarine waters almost tempted me to skip breakfast and go for a swim instead. The sun shone brightly in the clear blue skies. There wasn’t a rain cloud in sight. This view of the beach was picture perfect, and it coincided with the interior design of the restaurant.
The island style décor of Fischer’s Cove Restaurant maintained throughout. There was a seating area that had bright blue tables, stationary chairs and rocking chairs that had a fun tropical appeal. There was a beautiful piano that used for live entertainment during peak hours, and there were paintings that hung on the walls. The atmosphere was both welcoming and relaxing. The sounds of the waves that glided onto the shore added to this laid-back environment.
Shortly after I was seated, a friendly waiter took my order. My coffee mug had “regular” coffee filled to the brim. The scent was mouthwatering, and it serenaded the air. Yummy! That was certainly good. Next out was a variation of breakfast dishes with really cool names such as the “Calypso Sunshine.”
The Calypso Sunshine consisted of sunny-side-up eggs with bacon, stir-fried potatoes with a choice of toast or English muffins. The eggs were delicious and cooked to perfection. The potatoes were seasoned, and they were not overcooked. The Calypso Sunshine, undoubtedly was a good choice if you are in need of a hearty breakfast. The next dish to be served was “Where is the Sun.”
“Where is the Sun” is an omelet lover’s sanctuary. Ham, onions, and extra sharp cheddar cheese are the ingredients for this delicious meal. The salsa sauce that was on top of the omelet added a unique spicy flavor. The omelet, coupled with breakfast potatoes seemed to be the crowds favorite. Yummy! Although I enjoyed ordering the meals with tropical names, the final dish didn’t have one.
It was merely french toast coupled with sliced green apples as a side dish. The french toast was golden and crispy around the edges. I poured the maple syrup on top of it for an additional flavor. The apples were a crunchy contrast to the soft yet slightly firm French toast. This meal was delicious and light!
All in all, the “Calypso Sunshine,” “Where is the Sun,” and the french toast was all delectable! There were additional items on the menu that consisted of healthy choices such as oatmeal, egg whites, and eggs cooked any style. A continental breakfast and island favorites were also there as well.
Overall, if you are visiting Virgin Gorda, stop by the Fischer’s Cove Restaurant!
