Savannah Bay: Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
When I first arrived, the only sound that dominated the atmosphere were the waves that gently glided over the shore. The rhythm of the waves was very therapeutic. Occasionally, there were the sounds of birds chirping happily. However, for the most part, Savannah Bay was very quiet. I spread out my beach towel and took out my book to read. I spent hours reading because this was a beautiful place to get lost in a good book.
There weren’t any amenities or water sports activities. Food for purchase was also not available at Savannah Bay. However, I had a wonderful time that I didn’t mind spending the day on this undeveloped beach. Eventually, I went for a swim. The water was calm and refreshing! It was my reward for a busy week that I had before coming to Virgin Gorda.
After a quiet afternoon at Savannah Bay, I went back to Sounds Bay Villa to get ready for dinner and dessert at Coco Maya Restaurant! I tantalized my taste buds with the Asian and Latin cuisine. I ordered the Spicy Calamari Salad, and I was thoroughly pleased. It was very delicious.
The dessert menu featured selections such as lime curd tart, chocolate and walnut brownie, ice cream sampler, the coco maya trio and the dulce de leche cheesecake. It was a hard decision to make, but the dulce de leche cheesecake was calling my name. It had the perfect chilled creamy texture that melted in my mouth with every bite. Yummy! It was made onsite, so this type of cheesecake you can only have at Coco Maya.
The interior decorations of Coco Maya were elegant and welcoming. There were an open-air bar, chic wooden tables, and comfortable silver chairs. It matched the warm yellow lights engulfed in designer balloon fixtures. The view from the outdoor restaurant was a beach. I was able to watch the sunset while enjoying my dinner. The white sand beach was an extension of the restaurant. Couches were surrounding a fire that located on the beach. It is a great place to sip cocktails with friends while relaxing on the comfortable elongated white couches.
Overall, Savannah Bay was a beautiful retreat, and Coco Maya Restaurant was an excellent way to end my day!
