As I watched the sunrise, I wondered how I will spend this hot summer day in New York City. After an unexpected phone call, my friends made the suggestion that we go to Orchard Beach.

Orchard Beach has a long stretch of grainy brown sand coupled with ocean blue water that was graciously gliding onto the shore. I was pleased with the peaceful serenity that filled the air at Orchard Beach. Located on the boardwalk, there are bathroom facilities on both ends of the beach and a small cafe that was closed at the time I was there.

People were jogging, skateboarding or rollerskating on the boardwalk. Beach-goers were swimming, sunbathing, dancing to the music on their radios, or quietly reading a book. My friends and I set up our chairs, indulged in a lively conversation and relaxed on the beach until it closed.
